I think the workaround is fetching all the articles, and then looping through them in your template, only displaying the ones by the current user.

This is possible with the upcoming release of 3.6
I'll post patches this afternoon for 3.4 and 3.5 which add some more advanced attribute filtering, including filter by user object id (which is what you need)
