Check that you've the correct var directory setting in the site.ini.append file for the siteaccess. It should be set to "tscm" as the tut. says in the beginning. Also, check that the user running the webserver is able to write to the storage/images directory (within var/tscm). The filename is automatically converted into a bogus name (some numbers and letters) - don't worry about this, this is normal eZ publish 3.2 behaviour.
