I don't run a Mac, but I have run eZ publish 3 on php 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 on x86 and they both work. It looks like it might be a Mac php build issue. I don't see any Mac specific fixes in php 4.3.5 http://www.php.net/ChangeLog-4.php#4.3.5 but it might help.

I'm afraid upgrading to PHP 4.3.5 is not an option for me, yet.
This issue has persisted ever since I installed Mac OS X 10.2 to v10.3. It' odd that only EZ Publish is affected, though... If the EZ team plans to support the Mac OS X 10.3 platform, they should look into this issue.
