i got the same error when i used apache 2. i installed apache 1.3 instead. demo page opens just fine but the links are not working. nor index.php/user or index.php/admin.
PHP as well as apache are installed as modules. So, I guess the problem is not there. As a matter of fact, after getting these errors I tried to log in into ez using "http://localhost/ezpublish/index.php/user/user/login" and I got the "EZ Publish - Plain Design" window. However, If I try "http://localhost/ezpublish/index.php/user/demo/login" Apache crashes and I get the same error I described before. So, I am thinking the problem could be related to mysql and the EZ installer not installing the demo data properly. Could this be possible?
i encountered your problem when i was using apache 2 with php used as CGI. the problem persisted even when i downgraded to apache 1.3. it only worked when i run PHP as module, and with apache 1.3.
the other difference in our setup is that i run apache as service. i presume you installed php manually and not thru the binary distribution.
during the ez setup, if you use the Setup guide, you'll be prompted if you want to install the demo site. did you? also before you actually do the ez install you have to create a test mysql database which you will supply during the ez install process.
these are just random thoughts. hope these make sense to you.
