If you don't get a database connection, you will not be able to log in or use the system.
Check your database connection settings in /settings/override/forum/site.ini.append and /settings/override/forum_admin/site.ini.append.
If you installed some other package than "forum", your directory will have some other name.
Maybe you have a typo with your DB user or password.
Note: The settings of the two files must be the same. The first will be for the user site, the other for the admin site.
