Well, it turns out that the problem was the downloaded tar.gz archive that I used for Windows (or PowerArchiver, I don't know). Some of the file names got truncated while extracting the archive (the override.inis in the package directories in particular) and hence didn't get copied during install.
I downloaded and installed the .zip and it works perfectly, now
