Sorry,

your hardware is too weak. Also win 98 is not the best system for apache and mysql. I ran mysql on win98 before and the connect times were terrible.

In general I would say eZ is huge and powerfull though it also eats lots of resources.

You might wanna try the 3.4 alpha4 it is faster then 3.3

Hi,

Win98SE is definetively not the optimal system to run these things on. I'd advise you to install Linux. Also, as it was pointed out in the previous reply to your message: the next major release of eZ publish will be a lot faster than previous versions.

Thanks! Atleast I now know that the forum is not to weak..As my system... :o)

But it is not my system that is the problem, it is ez because something is donw wrong when you can't run a CMS on a average computer, when I had no problem with ANY program in the past. Could be fixed with 100% certainty.

Do you know where the problem lies? Db handling?

You said next release? Do you mean a beta of 4.4? Do you have any idee when it will come?

Thanks for your help,

Martin

I actually surprised you have got any PHP/MySQL CMS to run at all reasonably on that set-up. I tried it with various CMSs, POstnuke, eZ,, etc.. and none would be any quicker than about 40 seconds for each page.

I think it is just how the software runs on Win98 - badly.

That's why I took to getting a second account with a host, and developed my site there.

Its not been too hard to do it remotely at all.

Cheers

Tim

I've managed to have it running slowly, but not that bad (about 10 secs for a page to load) on Win98SE, it was a while ago so I can't remember if I had to do anything special to make it work like that. I wouldn't describe this setup as "average" though Hendrik! Win 98 is like 6 years old!! (Sorry to resort to stating the obvious).

Regards,

James
