I had a similar problem on a similar configuration; mine did complete but when I tried to access the site I came back to the first screen of the install script. I then clicked "next" and came to the first page of the site. When I however, clicked on a menu item I got a kernel error 20 and was stuck.
What I did was to reset the install script to run again by following the instructions in another post in this forum: "restarting the setup wizard: set the CheckValidity from false to true in your settings/override/site.ini.append file"
I could then re-run the install script - I remember I changed some of the options; smtp server instead of sendmail and I selected only "corporate" site template, and I was careful to use only lower-case letters in the url-string (see another post on that here)
This time the install script finished OK and I got to my site firts try, however, I still get the Kernel error 20 :-( This problem apperas similar to whats reported here: http://ez.no/community/forum/install_configuration/error_after_installation__1
I have previously used the eZ Publish installers for Windows to install and run eZ on my local machine. That was effortless and worked first time, no problem.
Good luck! Peter
