Hi,

The question mark is because of wrong encoding for text. Are you sure OE works for Xp, but not for windows 98? If there are bugs for OE or wrong settings in server, quote won't work for either of them.

Yes I'm sure.
I tryied this morning with win 98 in the client office. And every article, which was written with XP (successfully) where changed.
(When the OE is disabled, i can manage to write what I want).

Another clue : all the "special" character on macintosh (before os 9) are show with a "?"

Hi,

What is the IE version for that windows 98 client? It is difficult to find a windows 98 client and I can't reproduce the bug. Could you also read following thread to find is there a solution for you:

Laurent, is this text that you typed in or pasted from an Office application like Word? If it was pasted it is quite likely that the content being copied in uses curly quotes which may show up nicely on XP, but not be supported on 98.

Just a thought,

Alex

Hi,

Wenyue : The IE of my client is the same as my IE (6.0.2800.1106)
Alex : It's not a copy/paste

The OS on macintosh which display all the sepcial character as "?" is 8.6 with an IE 5.01 (2022).
(It works with 5.1.6 (5016))

Hi.

I'm the technical partner of Laurtent.

I had his case studied more precisely and found out a wierd case :

We changed the charset of the web site from iso-8859-15 to iso-8859-1.

This corrected problems we had with particular OS to print some chars (accents, euro, OE...and so on).

But we have somthing strange with the editor now :

If we enable the editor to edit an article, the specials chars (accents, quotes, double quotes are good, but euro, OE are not) are transformed in "?". (For everyone, even the one who writed the article).

If we disable the editor : no problem...

I think the problem Laurent had was the same, but he couldn't found out it.

What causes the editor to change the special chars ????

Hi,

Solve with the charset : windows-1252 (in site.ini and i18n.ini).

It was already in another thread. ;-)

Hope this help.

Laurent.
