I'm not sure your code is the best way to reach your aim.
I would have done this like this :

{undef $obj}
{if $offset|gt(0)}
<a href="{$node.ul_alias|ezurl('no')}/(offset)/{$offset|dec()}">Previous</a>
{/if}

{if $offset|lt($count)}
<a href="{$node.url_alias|ezurl('no)}/(offset)/{$offset|inc()}">Next</a>
{/if}
