Following up. I've abandoned the idea of creating a new media player type and have placed th e controls for the file in the template.
The remaining question is how do I get EzPublish to output the file path? Right now it's giving me the anchor link and file site when I really just need the path to the file:
{$node.object.data_map.cad_drawing}
A point in the correct direction is greatly appreciated.
