You can override all templates. You can for example override it in your siteaccess (or in an extension). Create a similar directory-structure (eg design/yousiteaccess/templates/notification/handler/ezsubtree/view/plain.tpl).
Remember to clear your cache.
Since this is an template that is used in the notification cronjob, you need to specify the siteaccess when running the cronjob.
