this is perhaps a PHP file size limitation issue (post_max_size) .
You should look at your php.ini and verify that time-out and file-size limits are relaxed:

max_execution_time = 900 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 600 ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data

post_max_size = 256M
then, restart apache and check if it works better...
