I was very confused about that. Looks like ezsystem is moving to a far less opened model. I was planning to pass the ezpublish certification, today I'm not sure it's good idea anymore.

It looks like it's still possible to download community versions : http://github.com/ezsystems/ezpublish but for how long ? What about documentation, extensions, etc. ?

I found documentation at: http://doc.ez.no/

Hi all,

@Michael :

  1. I brought all replies on this there : http://share.ez.no/forums/discussions/the-base-of-the-community-project-ez-publish-fuji-4.4-released-today.-let-s-launch-the-rocket/comment62211
  2. auth.ez.no will mainly serve as authentication platform for all other sites of our IT landscape : share.ez.no, projects.ez.no, support.ez.no. All useful content previously hosted on ez.no has been either moved to the new ez.no, either to share.ez.no. This is getting in place these times, stay tuned, and please feed back if you spot any missing element.
  3. Bertrand will clarify the situation here.
  4. http://issues.ez.no will not disappear at all
  5. github will serve as the main development repository for the Community Project, used both by community contributors and eZ Engineers. You can indeed download builds there, but they are pure github builds (simple tarballs), with no specific processing. Let me point you to the following thread for all details on how the Community Project releasing process may work : http://share.ez.no/forums/discussions/the-base-of-the-community-project-ez-publish-fuji-4.4-released-today.-let-s-launch-the-rocket/comment62211
  6. Surely. They may be moved to github at some point. Stay tuned here too.
  7. This concerns only eZ Publish Enterprise Edition. Bertrand or Roland will come up with additional information here.

@Jérôme :

eZ is not closing down at all, on the contrary. Please have a close look at the following resource :

In short : eZ Publish will remain available, including builds, to anyone, under the form of the Community Project. Contribution will be opened to it, at the kernel level. This is new, this is way more open than before, and this should lead to a greater innovation, to which you too can contribute.

But please read my reply to other interrogations, linked to above.

Thanks all for these questions,
Looking forward to reading your replies,
Cheers,

Hi all,

Before replying to Michael on his #7 point,

@Jerome: eZ is moving in both directions: on one in a way stronger, open and engaged community, on the other side on a much more professional and business oriented one when it comes to its business offering. What you see on ez.no now reflect only this business direction but be sure the other one is as important, the only thing to remember is that all will happen here, on http://share.ez.no when it comes to community ! Doubts ? It's as simple as what's following:

In our very competitive market that is the WCM market, innovation is key and we will really need to bring a lot of new great features to eZ. It's as simple as "if we don't come with innovation, we die". In our current model, no feature to the core of eZ Publish Enterprise will be possible without seeding, innovation, design and development of those in the community project as it is the place where we develop the software ! So dont be scared, the community project is there to stay.

@ Michael: first I bet we will have occasions to give more information about that topic to our partners, through events, seminars, webinars and more. This actually happened in Europe but not everywhere and we should quickly catch up.

To your questions:

  • Is the price for an annual subscription? YES
  • What is "Number of Content Repositories" ? Content database either on one or several database server (and no cluster DB counted)
  • What is "Number of Content Channels"? Front End site access without counting translations or administration/staging. In the future, channels for applications will fall in this category as well, when our APIs will be released.
  • "Enterprise Search with eZ Find", does it mean ezfind will not be available for non-enterprise version in the future? No, eZ Find is as eZ Published, developed on the community project.
  • What is "Support Seats"? A user account accessing to our product support service through its Service Portal.

Hope this answer the questions !

Have a nice week end !

Roland

Hi,

Sorry for my late comment on that one.

Concerning the point referring to the partner program : "As the eZ Publish silver partner, we had the partner knowledge center at ez.no before, but it's not available at ez.no now. So does it mean partnership program has been changed? And where we can get the latest information of partner program?"

Basically we are updating the Business Partner Program during the next days and that includes a new partner portal including knowledge center and Partner CRM where all lead and opportunities will be handed over and closed. Stay tuned, we will send information to Business Partners shortly.

Thanks.

Bertrand
