I'm using java.version: 1.6.0_0 and getting the same problem :(

Which version of eZ Find are you running? Noite that the new one (eZ Find 2.3 / eZ Publish 4.4) requires Sun ( now Oracle) Java 1.6
Also use the most recent JVM
The backend server has been tested on quite some platforms, so it is not a general problem
