write permissions to your menu.ini file maybe?

Uhm... nope..
I modified the ger/menu.ini.append.php manually ...
[SelectedMenu] CurrentMenu=DoubleTop TopMenu=double_top LeftMenu=
..so not a big deal but yet strange doesn't work from there...

remember that when you do this via admin interface, apache user is used so not the same as modifying manually.
