Did you remember to run the updateniceurls.php script as describerd in the 3.10/4.0 upgrade doc? You always need to run this if you change the urlalias format.
its fresh install, not upgrade, but always I run ezcash and updateniceurl after I change the url alias type, test with utf arabi, and also with english the same thing.
With arabic from 5 article created 1 was ok, and in english from 5 article 3 was ok, even fresh created after change to _iri of after updateniceurl !
put always work fine with compact or the new urlalias, but not with _iri !
