I have now discovered that the same problem occurs when using the built-in pdf generator to produce pdf versions of my EZ pages on the fly...

" are consistently converted to ?

Anyone have thoughts about this?

This happens because the quote character you use are not supported in the used character set. The solution is to use the utf-8 characterset with eZ publish.

Hi Bard,

You'll make my day if you give me an easy trick to add/tweek/modify the char converters to deal with the few extra windows characters (the quotes, euro symbols... the usual guilties) and convert them to their proper iso-8859-1 (15) equivalent ?

cf this doc for a more complete description: http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/www/windows-chars.html

By the way, I've had the problem with these chars even with utf-8 charset.

Not to forget, how does one change character set?

Is this done from within the admin interface, or do I have to alter the settings within one of the underlying systems (php, sql etc)?

Thanks for your input - I am looking forwarding to resolving this :-)

Is there a step-by-step on this?

I have looked around the forum, but I am afraid of damaging my install if I do something wrong here...

...As I look around here, it seems many people have problems with utf-8 installs...

Perhaps it would be wiser just to alter MSWord quotes to something else? Anyone have any ideas on this?
