Hi Martin,

you can't use the webdav finder function! The eZWebDAV don't accept the DAV LOCK method!

/kernel/classes/webdav/ezwebdavcontentserver.php

...
// Only a few WebDAV operations are allowed for now.
$options['methods'] = array( 'OPTIONS', 'PROPFIND', 'HEAD', 'GET', 'PUT', 'MKCOL', 'MOVE' );
...

Look at the manpages (OSX):

man mount_webdav ( near -o option )

... If connecting to a Class 1 compliant WebDAV server, the rdonly option will be set even if it was not specified because mount_webdav will not allow files to be opened with write access on servers which do not support the DAV LOCK method ...

An alternative client is GOLIAT 1.0.1 ( http://www.webdav.org/goliath/ ) or DAVExplorer.

Best greetings from Rostock-Germany,
Dirk

On Mac OS-X I recommend using transmit that works very well with eZ Publish and WebDav.

Thanx a lot these is great !

I used the "Transmit" software with my ezpublish webdav address and its working great !

The only con i see :

- Webdav function doesn't check into the whole settings override system : You have to setup the used language (in my case fre-FR) in setting/override or setting/siteaccess/

In fact i made a "settings extension" to share settings with multiple site installs but webdav doesn't look there for my "locale & language settings. So i had to put those back in setting/siteacces/site_admin/

- When i edit the image object created with the "transmit" upload, the "file name" of the image attribute shows :

var/webdav/tmp/054903e5908ef86de115249fe4bce64e/Image1.png and not only : Image1.png (as usual)

Is this normal ?

Thanx a lot anyway

I am having a problem with webdav. The problem is that the ez folder i need to manage contains thousands of pictures and webdav is freezing trying to display all the list. Making this protocol unusable.

How can i solve this ? Why webdav is not as efficient as a ftp connexion for displaying all those objects ?

Hi Martin,

If this looks like a bug. Can you report it to eZ using the issue tracker. The ability to manage thousands of documents in the same folder with eZ may be a bug. It may however be a constraint of the system. Either way it needs to be explained.

Hi Martin,

I thought while you are at it.

It might be a good idea to report "The eZWebDAV does not accept the DAV LOCK method!" as a request. It would make sense for eZ to work with the default finder in Mac OSX so folks did not have to buy extra software.

Good luck with your project.

Hi,

I've got the same issue and I can't use another software than Finder (I need to mount webdav in filesystem to use it with a third party picture software).

Did someone try this contrib http://ez.no/developer/contribs/hacks/webdav_locks_support to make Finder works ?

The problem i have with webdav is that, even with transmit, it doesn't work when you have thousand of pictures in the folder.

The folder i want to webdav access got 6000 elements. When i try to access it, transmit never display the list and freeze OR display the list but take so long i can't use it.

I don't know how this would be handled. Maybe by putting a "display limit".
