I ran into the same problem today and it turned out to be a problem with the EZxmleditor. I typed some text in a required field which was working fine but when saving the object I got the message that this field was required and that I should enter some content there. At the end I just disabled the texteditor and saved again - voila it worked. Not sure what happened though - I have not tried to troubleshoot it (yet).
