if you have moved install, it sometimes help to clear all cache, but that is only when old path is cached in templates. Second option is that you did something wrong when you re configured it, and you'll need to debug it and backtrack what you did (PHP 5.3.1 should not cause this afaik).
Start by checking src attribute of images and compare it to where images actually are, that might give you a clue.
