Doesn't it have something to do with permission setting by any chance? The thing is that my administrator account has the preview tab of the objects window disabled. This option of enabling/disabling the object preview tab can be set through the users preferences section of the collapsible right menu. But this users preferences section is unavailable to me.
In here I just have the current user section, the empty cache one and the quick settings.
