Permissions of the installed files?

Is teh database showing any content?

Clear the var/cache and var/<siteaccess>/cache dirs?

Looks like the database is properly populated. Browsed it through PHPMyAdmin (don't have shell access), and there are 91 tables, each of them starting with "ez". Looks right to me.

Any other ideas? Asked my webhost to look at it - they installed it on a dummy account and it worked fine. I've installed it on two different domains (both on their servers), and get the exact same error. Help!

One more thing: my "finished" screen differs from the screenshot in the docs in that it does not display the password - just the title, URL and username. Is this a clue that something is wrong, or is it just a cosmetic change since those screenshots were taken?

James, just a quick idea:
Try again! This worked for me!

Seriously: The first time, when someone tries to acces the user or admin site, after the wizard is finished, ezPublish compiles the template, which takes some time. Usually, the web server has a timeout of 30 seconds or so. After that, you get the "500" error.
When you reload the URL, it could work, as ez alread has compiled all or some of the templates.
Database looks fine with about 90 tables.

I found with version 3.4 that I needed to set the PHP memory limit in php.ini to 16 megabytes, although eZ said it only needed 12. Otherwise the install failed every time during the last phase (after the registration info screen).
