Hi Howard and welcome aboard the eZ Community!

From your thorough report, it seems that the default pacakge.ini file was altered. It is located at settings/package.ini. You may want to replace it by a freshly untarred one, and start the install process again.

Let us know how things go
Cheers,

Hi Nicholas

Thanks for your prompt response - the timestamp on settings/package.ini is Sep 30 11:19, which is the same as the other .ini files and the one in the package. I have been through this process so many times now - each time starting by extracting the install file and haven't modified package.ini at all so far.

I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the issue from the error, but if not, the below may be relevant:

The process as far as the Site package page works fine, but at that point no packages are displayed, instead I see an error as follows:

---

Error

Retrieving remote site packages list failed. You may upload packages manually.

Remote repository URL: /4.2/4.2.0/

---

I check in the manual, but have no proxy server so start to upload the packages manually. This works OK until I try to upload the 2 big ezpkg files (ezjscore_extension & ezwebin_democontent) - neither of which will upload.

Eventually I try manually copying and extracting these 2 files to var/storage/eZ-systems/, changing the owner to the Apache user and setting the permissions on all the files & directories to 777 - the same as those that were uploaded via the setup wizard.

I'm assuming that the above is not actually relevant as the Site package page is showing all the packages as having been imported.

Any other ideas?

Any thoughts or comments welcome - I am evaluating eZ Publish and so far the only result I can include is that it doesn't work on our web server!

I have the exact same problem. Was there ever a fix?

I eventually gave up trying to install on FreeBSD and tried it on CentOS instead - worked like a dream with no issues at all. Sorry I can't be any more useful!

Hi, there is a similar thread for this issue here: http://share.ez.no/forums/install-configuration/unable-to-download-site-packages-during-installation/(offset)/last
