Thanks for the quick reply. The heading says installation. Does this apply to upgrades as well?
So if I understand it correctly, I just go into PHPMyAdmin and enter
$ tar xvfz ezpublish-3.4.2.tar.gz -C public_html
and then its unpacked to my directory?

For most/all .tar.gz files, Yes. But I hope you've done a backup first.http://ez.no/doc/ez_publish/technical_manual/3_6/installation/upgrading
