Anyone who can help?

Try leaving the primary language as British english and changing the language to Norwegian after the installation. The ezPublish folks have pretty much abandoned Linux in favor Windows so don't expect much help there.

I have tried that but same result. Have tried all templates, forums - blog - corporate etc.

Seems to me this CMS is not easy to deal with.

This CMS was never easy to deal with, friend.

Once you understand it, you can create whatever site you need with it, but it never was, wouldn't become a off-the-shelf solution :)

In some case, I would recommend other CMS for you, but you never got the scalibility of eZ!!!

"Seems to me this CMS is not easy to deal with"

You are correct and the folks at ezPublish are not as helpful as one would like. Particularly

That being said I would encourage you to stick with it. Once mastered ezPublish is an extremely powerful and flexible tool. I have taken a hard look at most of the Open Source CMS and ezPublish is by far the best technical implementation.

The truly workaround of this bug is "USE ZIP-ARCHIVE OF EZPUBLISH DISTRIBUTION, NOT TAR.GZ" at least in Windows environment (didn't tested on *nix).

I'm using WinRAR for unpacking ZIPs and TAR.GZ files. When I downloaded tar.gz distribution (http://ez.no/content/download/89370/359024/file/ezpublish-3.6.0.tar.gz) and opened it, my installation was always failed with the same error (EZSW-051, EZSW-040).

If you're encountered this error, go to \packages\addons\contacts\ezcontentobject\override\templates\embed\ folder of your unpacked distribution and look at files extensions.

These are files from .tar.gz:

company.tpl
folder_contentlist.tpl
folder_list.tpl
folder_subtree.tpl<b>0000644</b>
person.tpl

and these from .zip:

company.tpl
folder_contentlist.tpl
folder_list.tpl
folder_subtree.tpl
person.tpl

Feel the difference :)

I don't know where error is - in WinRAR's algorythm of unpacking .tar.gz or in tar.gz file itself, but when I've unpacked ZIP distribution all problems have gone.

Good luck!

You are right,

There is a packaging bug and it happens with more than one file in the tar.gz archive.

Please file a bug report on this

Thank you for posting this work around. I finally was able to get EZ working after struggling with this error for two weeks.

I used the zip file and was able to successfully install on a redhat server after deleting the prior installation from the tar.

Hello, I have the same problem with mc in Linux. I think, this is not a winrar bug ;)

I had the same problem with Linux and did the .zip suggestion and it works just fine.

looks like this bug has resurfaced. I'm getting the same error with the latest package (3.6.4).

I have the same errors with EZpublish 3.4.8. And by searching for "EZSW-051 & EZSW-040", I find 26 matches, but no solution.

The same installation files were uploaded to another apache linux server, and it worked!
But I have to run it at my (shared) server.
I tried:
Changing main language(s), database table type, database collation, erasing and rebuilding databese, using plain site. I am trying since 2 days, and I found no really helpful hint in this forum.

GOT NO HELP AT ALL :-(
Unfortunately, nobody could help me installing EZpublish. This forum seems not to be very active or interested to help new potential users.
I will move over to Typo3. Installation was no problem on the same server.
I regret this step very much, because I am convinced by the architecture of EZpublish.

Hi Klaus,

i guess, getting angry at the people in the forum won't help you much. ;)

You're talking about ez 3.4.8, which isn't support (by eZsystems) anymore.
You say, that your PHP version is 4.4.4. I suggest, that you try again using a more current version of ez, ie 3.8.6.

On http://ez.no/download/ez_publish , it clearly says:
"eZ publish 3.6
Note that you can not use eZ publish 3.5 or 3.6 with PHP 4.4 or PHP 5."
The same is true for any older versions. You need 3.7 an PHP 4.4 systems.

We had no problems to install and run ezP 3.2-3.6 on older 1&1 Root Servers (using PHP 4.3), or ezP 3.8.x on Virtual Servers running PHP 4.4.

Hi Marco

Thank you for your respons! It really doesn't help to be angry to the people! I was angry by the fact, not to succeed an installation of this exeptional tool.
But making a little noise in this forum seems to help ;-).
I made a typing error concerning the EZpublish version, so sorry!

My version is 3.8.4 (NOT 3.4.8).

This vesion should work with PHP 4.4.4. The installer goes til the very last step, and then we have this famous error message: "EZSW-051 & EZSW-040". (Details in my posting from 26.october 2006)
I am sure, there is an incompatibility somewhere with my server installation, which nevertheless is a very standard LAMP.
If I find the reason, I will publish it for sure in this forum ;-)

Hi Klaus

What happens when you install the plain package? You can install the corporate packages afterwards if necessary, for now it just would be interesting to see whether the problem is caused by the specific package or the eZ installation itself.

Greetings from Luxembourg

Claudia
