I heard mentioning a subtree copy possibility in the newer versions of eZ. try searching the site and changelogs for it...

in eZ 3.6 there's a command line script for copying subtrees.
From the root of your eZ publish installation, you can do <b>./bin/php/ezsubtreecopy.php --help</b> (on Linux) to get the available options.
