I think you would have to modify/extend the datatype to be able to do this.
Also, you could just use a text line or other type of field if the volume of responses is not too high.
One other way, which is more complicated, is to allow users to create a new object of a class with a datetime option. If they can create an object, the information collection feature is not required.
