Shouldn't it be displayed under Manage Translations in the Admin GUI?

It might also be displayed in the right pane in front end editing.

Yes, sure, I know how to create a translation "the hard" way : have a draft of the object, create a translation, save the translation, save the draft.

However, I don't know if I need to create the translation (until I get the error messages when I try to edit the content).

When I'm on a language (say FR), and I want to edit a content that doesn't exist yet in FR (it only exists in EN), I get error messages and I have to create the translation (the hard way).

Is it possible to avoid it, so I don't offer the edit option ?

Am I clear ?
