First, these were removed because on one hand, they weren't really maintained anymore, and that is because they weren't used much.
The chances that we reintroduce them in a later release are honestly limited, but this also depends on popular request. If you can get other people interested in this to post here, along with what they did / would use it for, please do, by all means !
In the meantime, the best move would in my opinion be to make this feature a community extension for those who actually need it. Anyone interested ?
That was the intention when it was disabled (move it into it's own extension so people that actually use it can more easily contribute and improve it), but just like the shop module, these things take time to move out of the kernel..
uhm so which extension u can suggest me?
well the edit/override function for template was so usefull, now for edit a template need to connect to server using ssh ,search file and edit with nano, and than clear cache, and if i need ovveride it i need change ini too... that was all automatic before :/
ps : there some one can explain me how to modify the Sitestyle ( was under Design > Layout and interface) without Design Tab?
